Schoolcraft Lions Club Conducts Membership Drive

October is membership month for the Schoolcraft Lions Club according to Jim Stamper, immediate past president of the group. They are welcoming anyone in the community who feels drawn to a service club that does many things to help make life better. Stamper is extending the invitation to join the club for dinner at 6:30 on Wednesday, October 16. This includes friends and neighbors who would enjoy the camaraderie, have dinner at the American Legion Hall on Clay Street in Schoolcraft and tour the Eagles Nest next door.

With 22 members, the club has accomplished a lot of things and hopes to do more. They sponsor the White Cane Week in May, an Easter Egg hunt in Burch Park, a turkey raffle for a Thanksgiving meal, a pancake breakfast on July 4, and lots of jobs around town that need to be done. They have built raised planting beds at the Cedar Point housing development, painted fire hydrants for the village, installed playground equipment in Burch Park, filled backpacks for Generous Hands, and most recently looked to help out at the Eagles Nest. For more information call Stamper at Heirloom Rose, 679-3010.
