Schoolcraft Girl Scout Troop 80307 surprised Sue Kuiper, director of the Eagle’s Nest, with a check for $200 during a service project at the facility on Clay Street.

The Girl Scouts came to the Eagle’s Nest to help fill treat bags and said they had a great time helping out. Every girl seemed to have a different favorite part. Alexis liked helping people in need. Hallie liked getting to hear about what they would be doing. Kayla just liked everything!

“It’s great to have a returning group, it’s great to have them back here with their caring hearts,” said Susan Kuiper, Eagle’s Nest spokesperson.

The girls decided to give 10 percent of last year’s cookie sales to the Eagle’s Nest because they wanted to help kids in their community, said Angie Harrington, troop leader.

After the girls’ generous action, Harrington hopes, “That the girls are able to take away something special from this service project.  ”When we recite the Girl Scout law, we mean what we say. ‘I will do my best to be honest and fair, friendly and helpful, considerate and caring, courageous and strong, responsible for what I say and do, respect myself and others, use resources wisely, make the world a better place, and be a sister to every Girl Scout’.”
