The Vicksburg Varsity Boys’ Soccer Team has been recognized with an Academic All-State designation, as well as one of its players being named to the firstTeam All-Conference, and three of its players also being part of the All District team . Coach Steve DeVries announced that Jacob Windle was named to the first Team All-Conference and the All District Team. Joining Windle on the All District Team are Keenan Erb and Nati Nuzzi.
The team completed the second half of its season, hosting Lakeshore and suffering a 0-3 loss, followed by a 1-6 loss against the Trojans of Plainwell, with Nati Nuzzi putting one in the net for the Bulldogs. A trip to Otsego added another 3-0 loss, and the Allegan Tigers took the 1-2 win at Vicksburg, with Nuzzi scoring the lone goal, and Conner Henderson with an assist.
The Bulldogs rallied to an 8-2 victory on their home turf against Three Rivers. Keenan Erb scored three goals. Nuzzi, Mitch VanSchoick and Austin Arnott were good for one a piece, and Matthew Peterson put two in the net. Jacob Windle had one assist, and Henderson and Nuzzi each had two. The Bulldogs ended their regular season with a disappointing 0-8 loss at home against Sturgis.
Vicksburg met up with Three Rivers again in Conference tournament play, beating the Wildcats 5-2 at home. Erb had two goals and one assist, Nuzzi with two goals, and Emmanuel Camacho with one. Erb, Windle and Schuyler DeVries had one assist a piece, and VanSchoick added two. Austin Arnott saved 10 of 12 to help Vicksburg achieve the victory. Tournament play continued against Coloma as did the Bulldogs winning streak, with the Bulldogs beating Coloma 2-3. Erb, Windle and Nuzzi each put one in the net.
Unfortunately, the tide turned during the playoffs at Gull Lake High School when the Bulldogs met up with Coldwater. The Cardinals defeated Vicksburg 4-1. VanSchoick scored for Vicksburg, with Erb having the assist to round out their season.
