Dalton Ketelaar – Vicksburg High School Male Athlete of the Month

Vicksburg quarterback, Junior Dalton Ketelaar came up big in the upset of arch rival Three Rivers in the last game of the season. He scored two TD’s, finishing with 61 yards on 17 carries and was 7 for 11 for 76 passing yards. He did equally well with a win against Otsego, with 88 yards and 26 carries and 14 for 22 attempts for 222 yards of pass completions. The team ended the season with a 4-5 record.
“Coach Marchese and I are on the same wavelength,” Ketelaar said. “We aren’t where we wanted to be initially but we have improved greatly with this last big win. It’s the guys in the trenches who are doing all the work and they should get credit for our successes.” He will transition to shooting guard on the basketball team and in the spring perform as catcher and pitcher on the baseball team.
Ketelaar is the son of Renee Barkley and Eric Chesser, his stepfather.

Gabrielle Perrin – Vicksburg High School Female Athlete of the Month

Gabby is known far and wide, for her endurance in cross country and track. Besides that, she is a student at KAMSC with a grade point of 3.8 and a desire to see if her running academics will get her looked at by Division I colleges in this her junior year of high school. She began with Girls on the Run and had a break through moment in 7th grade when running just got to be a true love.
She has been setting records at VHS with her eye on cracking the record of Molly Waterhouse of 18:07 in cross country. She will compete at in the state cross country meet on Nov. 2 on the Vicksburg girls team. “She has so many qualities she shares with Molly,” claimed Athletic Director Mike Roy. “She’s a special breed of kid, to be an accomplished runner, outstanding academics and a great human being, as she isn’t doing it for the glory, just dedication and work ethic,” he added.
