Reflections Salon is in Downtown Vicksburg

By Sue Moore

“When I started here, I was the youngest salon in town, now I’m probably the oldest,” claims Michelle Cheesebro.  She has been cutting and coloring hair for the last 21 years at 115 S. Main Street in Vicksburg.

“I’ve seen at least four generations of hair styles,” she says.  “I worked in Kalamazoo first but figured I had to do something for myself as a single mom with two kids, so I took the plunge and went out on my own.  The recession hit hard and I had to scale back.  People just couldn’t afford all the personal services so I’ve specialized in color by taking advanced classes and training.”

Her clients were loyal and kept her in business, supporting her in good times and bad.  “I like to think I do good work and that I stand behind it.”

Stacy Thrasher also rents a chair from Cheesebro who is in the building owned by Bud Mason, the barber next door.
