Vicksburg choirs under the direction of Dustin Morris, competed at the Michigan School Vocal Music Association District Choral Festival in March. The groups participating from Vicksburg included: sixth, seventh, eighth grade choirs; Chorale, Women’s Chorus, Simply Men, Chamber Singers, and the Festival Chorus which is made up of all the high school choir students together.
The ratings are superior, excellent, good, fair, or poor. Excellent and superior qualify to advance to the state choral festival. All of the Vicksburg choirs were rated excellent, except the VHS Festival Chorus which rated superior. Each choir sings two songs for a panel of judges, works with an expert director and then performs sight-reading exercises for a different judge.
