Tired of winter and a spring that hasn’t sprung? Are people ready to get outside and roam? Evie Hall of Home Again Consignments hopes so. She has planned a promotion for Vicksburg merchants’ Sidewalk Sales days to bring winter weary folks to the village’s Main Street on Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to promote the business district.
Hall sees this event as a celebration, with tables of goodies outside each participating store. Each participating store will have a red and white checkered table cloth on an outdoor table to attract bargain hunters who wish to sit down and eat.
She has recruited over 25 businesses to participate, suggesting local restaurants offer picnic lunch items for take-out.
She has suggested that drawings or raffles in each store should go along with their sidewalk specials. There will be radio promotion pieces on WKZO, WIN 98.5, Z96.5 and 106.5 WVFM. Area musicians are invited to play in 45 minute slots in Oswalt Park and should contact her to schedule at 649-1944.
Home Again Consignments will be celebrating its tenth anniversary on South Main Street that same day.
Other collaborating events going that day include Tanya’s Girl Garage Open House, South County Community Services Open House for the workers from the Department of Human Services, the Designing with Chocolate fundraiser for the Farmers Market, and the spring clean-up at the Historic Village by the Victorian Garden Club. In the evening, the musical “Cabaret” will be presented at the High School Performing Arts Center.
