David Maturen recently secured the public endorsement of the Michigan Chamber of Commerce in his bid for the 63rd District seat in the Michigan House of Representatives.
Maturen, current chair of the Kalamazoo County Board of Commissioners, drew the support of the State Chamber with his pro-business platform that falls in line with his voting record and legislation in 12 years on the Board.
The Chamber endorsed just 21 specific candidates across the state for the upcoming election.
“All of these candidates have demonstrated a commitment to protecting the gains made during the last legislative session to keep Michigan moving forward through the pursuit of policies based on individual freedom, incentive and opportunity,” said Jim Holcomb, Senior Vice President for Business Advocacy & General Counsel for the Michigan Chamber.
Maturen’s latest endorsement comes on the heels of the formal endorsements Maturen received from the Michigan Association of Realtors, Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors (GKAR) and Battle Creek Area Association of Realtors (BCAAR).
Dan Jaqua, GKAR’s president, said of the candidates they endorsed, “[We] fully support their candidacies and appreciate their willingness to serve in elected office. They are the most qualified in each race to represent their districts.”
About his recent endorsements, Maturen said, “I am pleased to receive the endorsements from these statewide organizations. The Chamber and Realtors are major proponents of job creation and private property rights in Michigan.”
Maturen has over 26 years of legislative experience at the local level, including 14 years as a Brady Township Trustee before his time with the County Commission.
In addition to the support of statewide business organizations, Maturen has seen individual support across Kalamazoo and Calhoun Counties and from local leaders and Township Supervisors, including Brady, Climax, Charleston, Pavilion, Richland, Ross and Wakeshma.
Maturen will face Vic Potter in the Republican Primary on August 5. The 63rd District includes the eastern side of Kalamazoo County including all of Brady Township and much of Calhoun County.
