Vicksburg Community Schools is sponsoring its sixth annual Vicksburg Community Tailgate Event from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., right before the high school football team’s face off with Edwardsburg on Friday, September 12.
Held on the grounds between the Middle School and the High School, a sprawling tent city featuring local businesses and products will line the walkway between the two buildings. Each booth has information along with some enticing handouts and other treats for parents, students, and community members. Entertainment will be held on the big stage next to the ticket office entrance to the stadium.
The event has been organized by the Community Education department, headed by Tonya Nash, as a chance for local businesses and organizations to showcase their goods and services to over 1,200 people who attend annually. Free hot dogs and drinks have generously been provided by the sponsors and donations from the Vicksburg Community Schools Foundation, Nash explained.
The tailgate event has become a tradition that kicks off the school year annually. The Varsity football game and the Big Red Machine, Vicksburg’s marching band, will take the field at 6:40, with the game kicking off at 7 p.m.
