Vicksburg – December

12/1 – Mon. Victorian Garden Club luncheon and Christmas party at the Kalamazoo Ladies Library building. Tour at 11:30, lunch and gift exchange, $21.20. Members are encouraged to bring guests. Contact Teri Clark 269-778-9948.

12/4 – Thurs. 7 p.m. Vicksburg United Methodist Church, Community Christmas Celebration. Vicksburg High School Choral Music Choir performing for all to enjoy. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the choral music department.

12/5 – Fri. Vicksburg Ladies Library Auxiliary, 1 p.m. with the program the High School Choir.

12/6 – Sat. Holiday Parade, downtown Vicksburg. 10:30. Contact Betsy Breitenbach 269-496-7338.

12/6 – Sat. Visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Vicksburg Community Center following the parade. Cookies and hot cocoa provided by the Vicksburg Community Association.

12/6 – Sat. Vicksburg DDA events downtown with tree lighting at 5 and Pub Crawl at 5:30. Contact Kathleen Hoyle 269-352-4583 or the village at 649-1919.

12/6 – Sat. Coco & John Sweezy’s art pieces, open 11-5 p.m.

12/6 – Sat. Scott’s Methodist Church, Cookie Festival, 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Many varieties of homemade, fresh baked cookies. Contact Marge Stephenson 269-327-5422.

12/6 – Sat. Bake sale at the Depot Museum, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. to benefit the Vicksburg Historical Society.

12/6, 13, 20 – Sat. Vicksburg Historical Society’s Model Train Display, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the restored Township Hall in the Historic Village. There is no charge to come and see the model trains running. Contact Karen Hammond 649-3924.

12/9 – Tues., Public Hearing, 7 – 8 p.m., on contamination at what was Simpson Paper Company, then Fox River, at Angels Crossing Clubhouse at 3600 W Ave.

12/11, 12, 13 – Coco & John Sweezy’s art pieces, open 1 – 6 p.m. on Thurs. & Friday, and 10 – 6 on Sat.

12/21 – Sun., Christmas Celebration, Chapman Memorial Church, 6 p.m., 7520 East U Ave. An hour of sights and sounds, everyone is welcome.

February

2/7 – Sat. Chili Cook-off and Frostbite Run, sponsored by the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce 11 – 2 p.m.

2/27,28, March 1 – Vicksburg Rotary Club’s 62nd Annual Showboat, Performing Arts Center, 7 p.m. on Fri. & Sat., 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Recurring events

Certified Veterans Service Officer, Robert Barton, helping with navigating the VA healthcare system at SCCS every Thursday from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Contact 649-2901 for further information.

Boy Scouts newspaper drop off on Richardson Street, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Vicksburg Village Council meets the first and third Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Vicksburg District Library.

Vicksburg School Board meets the second Monday of the month, usually at the administration building at 7 p.m.

Schoolcraft – December

12/3 – Wed. Osher Lifelong Learning Institute Open House, Schoolcraft Library, 3 p.m. in association with the Ladies Library and the book club meeting.

12/5, 6 – Sat. Christmas Walk in Schoolcraft with open house at many locations in the village.

12/6 – Sat. Norma’s Antiques and T&W Coins, Christmas Open House, 10 – 5 p.m. with refreshments and live music upstairs.

12/7 – Sat. Schoolcraft Drama Club Dinner Theater, 6 p.m. High School cafeteria. A Muppet Show theme. Contact Christine Sargeant 488-7390.

12/9 – Tues., 6-7:30, Schoolcraft Library Open House & last day to bid on the Jubilee of Trees, & winners announced for Tournament of Writers contest.

Recurring events

Regular meetings of the Village Council on the first and third Monday of the month in the council chambers at 7 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Schoolcraft School Board on the second Monday at 7 p.m. usually at the high school.

Schoolcraft PTO meets on the second Tuesday of the month at the elementary library, 6:30.

Schoolcraft Ladies Library meets regularly on the first and third Tuesday of the month, usually at the LLA building.

Schoolcraft Historical Society meets regularly on the first Wednesday of the month at the Museum at 7 p.m.
