Nick DeVito, the new owner of Bud Mason’s barber shop, called the Hair Place, at 115 S. Main St., Vicksburg, looks forward to an easy walk to work now as he and his wife Sandy own a house right in the village. He has been a barber for eight years, working in Portage and most recently in a shop on Lovers Lane next to Locey’s Pool Company.
“I had my eye on Bud’s shop when we moved to Vicksburg a few years ago, but didn’t know if it would ever be for sale. We have two children, three and four years old, so it will be nice to be close to help out.” The couple is originally from Parchment and were high school sweethearts. The shop will be called Nick’s Barber Shop and will be open Tuesday through Friday, 8:30 – 6 p.m., Saturday 8:30 – 2 p.m. and Monday by appointment. The phone number is 269-649-2365.
Meanwhile, former owner Bud Mason plans to play some golf, having just purchased a membership at Angels Crossing. “I have no other definite plans except what my wife Jane has in mind for me.” He has owned the shop for 38 years but suffered a heart attack last year and cut back his work schedule significantly.
