Schoolcraft Alumni Association Announces Scholarship Winners

At its annual banquet on June 27, the Schoolcraft Alumni Association announced scholarships awarded to 2015 graduates Jessica Carlton and Connor Jagielski.

Carlton plans to attend Glen Oaks Community College and eventually transfer to Baker College to study physical therapy. Jagielski plans to attend Western Michigan University and explore majors that will help him achieve his goal of learning about other cultures, global issues, and helping create a better society.

The Alumni Association banquet and annual meeting was attended by approximately 80 alumni and guests. President Bryon Balch also announced at the meeting that the Alumni Association now has a link to information about the organization and its activities on the Schoolcraft School’s website, and Secretary/Treasurer Sue Bates Hendriksma gave a short preview of the website. Both Balch and Hendriksma encouraged alumni to stay in contact with the organization through its website and/or its Facebook group.

The Alumni Association hopes to begin sponsoring an annual fundraiser next year to further develop its scholarship program. It is exploring ways to provide more opportunities for past graduates to socialize while also helping raise funds to support current graduates of Schoolcraft High School with scholarships for further study. The association welcomes input and ideas from all Schoolcraft alumni.
