11/1 – Sun. Coco’s Open House, “Celebrating the Day of the Death”, and exhibition of CoCo Sweezy’s paintings in pastel and acrylic, 4 to 7 p.m. with a presentation “Calaveras and Mexican Folk Art” at 5 p.m., at 105 S. Main St., Vicksburg.

11/3 – Election Day. Absentee ballots will be received up to 8 p.m. If mailing them, be sure to get them in early as it is taking several days for the post office to deliver.

11/8 – Sun. Veterans honored by Boy Scouts at the Vault, 1 p.m. for lunch.

11/11 – Wed. Veterans Day observance, Oswalt Park, 11 a.m.

11/11 – Wed. Flagpole raising, immediately following Veterans Day in the Park, go to the Depot Museum, in honor of Veterans.

11/14 – Sat. VCSF Bus Trip for shopping excursion to Chicago. 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

11/17 – Tues. Vicksburg Historical Society program on the Hospital Festival in the 1940s. 7 p.m. at the Community Center.

11/20 – Fri. American Red Cross Blood Drive, Vicksburg United Methodist Church, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

11/20 – Fri. Vicksburg DDA Capital Campaign, It Takes a Village Fundraiser, 5 – 7 p.m. 200 S. Main St.

11/21 – Sat. The 22nd Annual Vicksburg Project Graduation Arts and Craft Show, 9 to 3 p.m. at Sunset Lake Elementary.

12/11 – Fri. A Very Vicksburg Christmas, Music & Mistletoe, 6:30 to 8:30, sponsored by the VACA at 200 S. Main.

12/31 – Thurs. New Year’s Eve Party, VACA, 200 S. Main St., 9 – Midnight.

Recurring events

Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center will be open on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Wednesday from 1 – 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the gallery at 200 S. Main St.

Certified Veterans Service Officer, Robert Barton, helping with navigating the VA healthcare system at SCCS every Thursday from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Contact 649-2901 for further information.

Boy Scouts newspaper drop off on Richardson Street, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on the first Saturday of each month.

Vicksburg Village Council meets the first and third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Vicksburg District Library.

Vicksburg School Board meets the second Monday of the month, usually at the administration building at 7 p.m.

11/3 – Tues. Ladies Library of Schoolcraft presents an evening performance by the Aurora Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Quartet, 7 p.m. at 163 Hayward Street.

11/5 & 6 – Thurs. & Fri. Schoolcraft Historical Society program at the Ladies Library building, featuring the storytelling of Von Washington, Sr.

11/17 – Tues. Ladies Library of Schoolcraft guest speaker is Martha O. Wilczynski, owner of Lavender Hill Farm, 1 p.m. at 163 Hayward Street.

Recurring events

Regular meetings of the Village Council on the first and third Monday of the month in the council chambers at 7 p.m.

Regular meeting of the Schoolcraft School Board on the second Monday at 7 p.m. usually at the high school.

Schoolcraft PTO meets on the third Monday every other month at the elementary school library, 6:30, beginning Sept. 21, Nov. 16, Jan. 18, March 21, and May 16.

Schoolcraft Ladies Library meets regularly on the first and third Tuesday of the month, usually at the LLA building.

Schoolcraft Historical Society meets regularly on the first Wednesday of the month at the Museum at 7 p.m.
