The Vicksburg Youth Football season came to a dramatic end on the high school football field with a salute to breast cancer awareness month and a special lady night fundraiser for the local Susan G. Komen foundation. The event include buying a luminary bag and adding a special note to a loved one. The luminarias lined the track during the last game of the evening, according to Nicole Dalman, treasurer of the organization.

Antonio Buentello’s fifth and sixth grade football team participated in this event and the special lady night, while all of the Vicksburg teams saw action during the October 10 final game day. Valerie Tassell was a co-chair of the event.

Five teams of five- and six-year-olds were coached in the fundamentals of the game, playing flag football. They include the Lions, led by Coach Nick Sertic; the Steelers, led by Coach Craig Lomason; the Giants, led by Coach Nick Mills; the Bears, led by Coach Mark Hudgins and the Packers, led by Coach Jared Taylor.

The seven, eight and nine year old flag teams were the Steelers, led by Coach Ryan Schwartz; the Lions, led by Coach Joe Spicer; the 49ers, led by Coach Kevin Bowling; the Ravens, led by Coach Gary Gunberg; the Titans, led by Coach Tim Palomaki and the Seahawks, led by Coach Pat Rowley.
