Notice: Viewers to the Battle of Sunset Lake re-enactment are reminded to bring lawn chairs for comfort, and perhaps an umbrella or pop-up tent to shield themselves from the hot sun. There will be a small set of bleachers to seat people but no shade in the open field.
There will be some 20 vendors with 18th century items for sale but no food vendors. Guests are invited to attend the Taste of Vicksburg in the downtown area which begins at 4 p.m. and goes until 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 25. Local restaurants will be open for business in the downtown area on Saturday and Sunday.
Notice: Guest parking will be located at the pavilion on N. Richardson Street and on the grounds of the Historic Village. Overflow parking will be located at Vicksburg’s Middle School lot on E. Prairie. The school has graciously allowed the organizers of the Battle to utilize several school buses that will provide rides from all the parking areas to the Recreation Park on the half hour. The bus drivers will be certified by the school and paid by the Vicksburg Historical Society.
Notice: The Boy Scouts of Troop 251 will be selling bottled water at the two battle sites but guests are invited to bring their own. If the public wishes, the grounds at the Recreation Park, beyond where the battles are taking place, may be utilized for picnicking and game playing for the youngsters.
