Candidate Guide for August 2nd Elections

The primary elections in Michigan are upon us and likely more important to the future of local government than anything being contested on the national scene. Several contests exist for Schoolcraft Township, including three supervisor and two clerk candidates.
Brady Township has four people running for two trustee seats on the Republican ticket. On the county level there are two Democrats and two Republicans seeking their party’s nomination for sheriff. The prosecuting attorney’s office has two Democrats in the race and the county treasurer’s office also has two Democrats running to face the GOP incumbent in the November election.

The South County News asked each candidate to submit a photo and a 200 word statement of their qualifications so voters could be prepared on August 2. Only two candidates did not respond.

Remember: A single vote can have a huge impact in these local elections.
