8/6 – Sat. Hidden Vicksburg, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tour downtown nooks and crannies, beginning at the Community Center where tickets will be available.

8/6 – Sat. Generous Hands and SCCS Backpack party at Lakeland Reformed Church from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

8/9 – Tues. DDA Annual Meeting, 5:30 at the VCAC. Light refreshments will be served.

8/16 – Tues. Vicksburg Historical Society monthly program 7 p.m. at the Community Center. Steve Rossio to speak on WWII duties on the home front in Michigan.

8/19 – Fri. Vicksburg Farmers’ Market cooking demo at the pavilion 3-5 p.m., the Food Fairy will be there for Kids’ Plate from 2:30 to 4:30.

8/19 – Vicksburg Library Story Time at the Farmer’s Market, 3-4 p.m.

8/20 – Sat. Meet & Greet Button Collectors at Vicksburg Library, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meet some hobbyists and bring some buttons if you have them to tell some stories.

8/20 – Sat. Vicksburg Farmers’ Market Round Peg Square Dance at the pavilion, 6-11 p.m.

8/25 – Thurs. Megan Dooley Concert. Rich, gritty, powerful vocals, guitar and banjolele. Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center, 7:30-9:30 pm $10 on line, at gallery or at the door. 269-501-1347

8/26 – Fri. Vicksburg Trailhead ribbon cutting, corner of North and Richardson streets 11 a.m.

8/27 – Sat. Café 8 grand opening with new owners, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.

8/27 – Sat. Art Stroll, downtown Vicksburg, 6-9 p.m. free event.

8/29 – Kindergarten Story Time at the Vicksburg Library (for children starting Kindergarten in Sept. 2016).

8/31 – Wed. Mighty Pen Open Mic. Share your unique literary works. Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center 6:30- 8:30 pm.

Schoolcraft

8/4 – Schoolcraft Library, Summer Palooza, Burch Park, 5:30 to 7:30. Fun for all the family.

8/24 – Sun. Schoolcraft Rocket Football will host an NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick competition for boys and girls ages 6-15 on August 28th at 4 p.m. at the high school football field.

8/31 – Join Penny Clark at the Schoolcraft Library to create a painting to take home with you while enjoying light refreshments from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The cost is $35 per person and part of the proceeds go to the library. Space is limited, so sign up at the library today. Payment is due in full at the time of registration.

On Monday, August 15, 2016 Kalamazoo County Advocates for Senior Issues (KCASI) will host a discussion led by State Representative Jon Hoadley on “Patient Safety, Nurses & Overtime”. The program will be held at Senior Services, 918 Jasper Street in Kalamazoo from 1:15-2:45 p.m. It is FREE and open to the public. For information or questions, call 269-373-5147.
