The Bulldog cross country teams have continued to show improvement for Vicksburg and are close to wrapping up their seasons.

At the Wolverine Conference meet in Paw Paw, the boys’ team took fourth in abnormally beautiful weather conditions for October. The finish was high enough to earn the Bulldogs second place in the final conference standings.

Once again it was junior Kyle Strong who was the top finisher for Vicksburg in eighth place. Junior Collin Eager was next with a 14th place finish and junior Jacob Klimp had his best run of the whole year, setting a new personal record and finishing in 16th place.

For finishing in the top 20 out of 68, all three runners earned all-conference honors. All three runners have had consistently strong showings for the team throughout the season.

Things have been a little more difficult for the girls. It’s been tough to compete at times when they have only been able to field five runners. Still, freshman Angel Currie continues to prove she’ll be a runner to watch as she took 17th in a field of 69 at the Wolverine Conference meet and earned all-conference honors.

Junior Hannah Flickinger and senior Layna Steele were the next highest, just missing all-conference with 23rd and 25th place finishes respectively. Senior Kasmyn VanMaanen was also a strong finisher, taking 31st. The team took 6th overall at the Conference meet and in the final standings.
