Schoolcraft Bowling Teams Posting Great Records

By Sean Budlong

The Schoolcraft boys and girls bowling teams are in the midst of strong seasons, with the focus on the Michigan State Playoffs.

The Lady Eagles are currently ranked 5th in Division 4 with an overall 15-1 record, including 6-0 in conference play. Schoolcraft is led by senior Megan West with a 165 average and freshman Shelbe Bryustens with a 181 average – and a 256 high game. “This team has jelled together quite nicely,” Schoolcraft Head Coach Mark Blentlinger said.

Schoolcraft’s boys team has posted a 12-4 overall record (4-2 in conference play), good for second place in the conference. Blake Bales leads the Eagles and conference with a 179 average (and 259 high game).

The Eagles added five new bowlers this season. Sean Endres has come out strong in his first year, coming in second to Bales in average. Austin Edwards, Jesse Timmerman, Nolan Ballard, and Jack Waldron round out the team.

Schoolcraft has its eyes on the Regional team and individual Championships the weekend of February 24. That Friday, at Pinz in Kalamazoo, the top three teams out of 16 will qualify for the State Championships. The following day, the top 10 individual bowlers out of some 70-100 will advance.
