Second Annual Golf Outing Fundraiser on May 19

Ready, set, golf! The Vicksburg Vision Capital Campaign is getting ready to tee off for its second annual golf outing fundraiser May 19. The event will take place at Angel’s Crossing Golf Club, 3600 EW Avenue, Vicksburg.

Registration for the four-person golf scramble will take place at 8 a.m. the day of the event. During registration, teams will have the opportunity to purchase mulligans to provide them with a competitive advantage. Once teams have registered, they will be treated to a continental breakfast prepared by Creekside Grille. At 9 a.m., the teams will be escorted out to the golf course for a shot-gun start.

With 18 holes of golf under their belt, teams will be invited to gather back at Creekside Grille for a taco bar, announcement of team results and awarding of prizes. Like last year, men and women will compete in separate contests during the day for longest drive, longest putt, and closest to pin. The team with the best score under par will also win a prize – but so will the team with the highest score over par. This year, said outing organizer Mary Ruple, the beverage cart will be running throughout the event.

The proceeds of this year’s golf outing will go towards signs and related costs for downtown Vicksburg. “The downtown is in dire need of parking and directional signs. By raising money for this project, the golf outing will help to create a downtown that is more functional and consumer-friendly,” Ruple said. She is a member of the Downtown Development Authority and a retailer on S. Main Street.

Major sponsors include Frederick Construction and Imerys Perlite. Interested parties still have time to register a four-person team and purchase corporate sponsorships. Please contact Ruple at 269-993-2764 for signup and more details. Signup for teams and sponsorships can also be done at the Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center, 200 S. Main Street, Vicksburg.
