An open house for a couple who have enjoyed 70 years together will be held at Chapman Memorial Church of the Nazarene Life Center on Saturday, June 24 from 2 to 5 p.m. William Francis West and Margaret Avis Loker were united in marriage on June 22, 1947. They were high school classmates in Athens previous to taking their vows.
They have lived just outside Fulton for over 60 years, with a garden that Francis, at 90, is still maintaining. He worked at Hydreco in Battle Creek and upon retiring took a part-time job at Felpausch in Vicksburg. Margaret, 89, was a school bus driver for the Vicksburg Community Schools for 38 years. She never had an accident and became a trainer for other drivers at the bus garage. Ironically, her daughter, Linda Crotser, was a bus driver in Vicksburg for 24 years before taking the same job with the Climax-Scotts school district.
The Wests have four children: Crotser a Scotts resident, Mary Lou Cali who lives in Sturgis, Diane Blain who lives in Portage, and Alan a resident of Sherwood.
