The Vicksburg Historical Society’s June program will feature Historian Steve Rossio talking about soldiers from Kalamazoo County who served in World War I. This will be the third presentation Rossio has delivered as part of the Historical Society’s speaker series. He has appeared in the full dress of a Civil War veteran and most recently as a GI from World War II.

The program at the Vicksburg Community Center is scheduled at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 22.

Rossio injects history with humor, said Ted Vliek, who issued the invitation. “The public should now be very familiar with his deep knowledge of history and the exciting presentation he gives wherever he speaks.”

In addition to his career at the Portage District Library, Rossio has a keen interest in military history.  He is a member of the Michigan Historical Society, the Michigan One-Room Schoolhouse Association, the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and participates in Civil War reenactments. He has even had a lead role on All Ears Theatre for WMUK’s monthly drama. His portrayal of the life of an army infantryman should be both entertaining and insightful.
