Vicksburg’s varsity soccer team is hoping to make the program a winner again. “We’re improving as a team,” new Head Coach Lahou Boulnemour said. “What we’re trying to do here is build the program.”
Originally from Algeria, Boulnemour played semi-professional soccer. But he decided to retire early and head to the U.S. instead because he saw a better future here. He has built 35 years of coaching experience with players ranging in age from high school to adults in independent leagues like the Portage Lightning.
The Bulldogs have struggled a bit in recent years to compete with other programs. Boulnemour is already working with the boys on conditioning and said he expects them to get much better as the season goes on.
“Restore the pride of Vicksburg, that’s my goal.” The boys play their next home game against Dowagiac on September 7.
