By Sue Moore

Frank and Beverly Freeland were married on Feb. 1, 1958 in Battle Creek. Their children are Stephen Freeland and Sheri Freeland, both of Vicksburg, and Becki Freeland of Trenton. There are five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Frank is the son of Frank and Mary (Terburg) Freeland and was born in Kalamazoo. His family moved to Indian Lake when Frank was in 5th grade. Frank graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1957.

Beverly is the daughter of Howard and Vesta (Buckmaster) Grinder and was born in Vicksburg.

When Beverly was 2 years old her dad was laid off from the Lee Paper during the war so the family moved to Battle Creek where he found work.  Beverly graduated from Battle Creek Lakeview High School in 1956. Frank and Beverly met during visits to relatives in Vicksburg.

After high school, Frank was in the U.S. Navy, then worked for Checker Motors and eventually Upjohn for 30 years.  Beverly was a homemaker until all of the children were in high school, then went to work for Upjohn as well. After retiring, they spent 17 winters in Frostproof, Florida.  They have lived in Frank’s childhood home at Indian Lake since returning from the Navy in 1959, and are full time residents there now.

They will be celebrating with a family dinner.
