Vicksburg Soccer Loses Close One to Lakeshore

By Travis Smola

The Vicksburg Lady Bulldogs soccer team has received an influx of new sophomore talent this year and has already had a nail-biter game at home against Stevensville Lakeshore.

The Lancers struck first in the contest early in the first half. But sophomore Chloe Hatridge hit a lofty goal from long distance to tie the game up 1-1 in the first. Stevensville answered back with two more goals before sophomore Brady Brown made it a contest again with a goal of her own.

In the second half, the Lady Bulldogs played much better defensively and kept the Lancers out of their goal. They also put some tremendous pressure several times on the opposing goalie but simply ran out of time to put a tying score in the back of the net.

The team also lost its opening contest of the year to Richland Gull Lake and games against Grosse Ile and Leslie. But the Lady Bulldogs have bounced back in their most recent contests, beating Dowagiac 5-2 and Hackett Catholic Prep 1-0 to bring their record to 2-4.
