Did you know that Mardi Gras (also known as Fat Tuesday) is actually the last day of a few months of parades, balls, and other celebrations known as Carnival? Mardi Gras and Carnival are celebrated in many cities in the U.S. and other countries around the world.
The Vicksburg Fine Arts Boosters (VFAB) plan to add the South County community of Vicksburg to that group of revelers.
In support of the Vicksburg Community Schools theater program, the public is cordially invited to attend the VFAB Mardi Gras Masquerade Ball on Saturday, February 15 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Vicksburg High School.
Ever tried muffaletta or jambalaya or king cake? Been looking for something special to do on Valentine’s weekend with your sweeties? Want to try something a little different and have a great reason to get one of those fantastic masquerade masks?
Gather your friends and family for a fun night of Vicksburg version of Cajun food, “Minute to Win It” style games, dancing, and a rock, paper, scissors tournament, all to benefit the amazing Vicksburg Community Schools Theater program and its upcoming musical “Holiday Inn” in March. VFAB volunteers along with theater program students and parents will be preparing the food in the cafeteria and running the events. This fundraiser will support everything in the theater program, from wardrobe, to props and sets and advertising for the shows.
Have some fun dressing up for this event with a mysterious mask, your best jester outfit, or a fun little fascinator (those little hats sometimes worn at royal weddings). Let your creativity flow and flash your flair.
Try your luck at the Minute-to-Win It style games to win some of those iconic Mardi Gras beads, and join the rock, paper, scissors tournament to try to win the big prize. All ages can get in on the fun!
Suggested donations of $5 per person admission, $1 per food and game tickets, and $5 per person Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament entry. Tickets can be purchased at the door or by using PayPal following the instructions on the event page of the website https://vicksburgfab.wixsite.com/vfab.
