Church Liaison to the preschool

There is an old saying, “All good things must come to an end.” With a sad heart, we at Vicksburg United Methodist Church say goodbye to Amber Morris, our preschool director of 10 years. She has built our Heart and Hands Preschool program to a phenomenal status. So many little hearts and hands have been loved and nurtured by her leadership and teaching. We loved her ability to lead and love.

We will miss her as she moves on with her career. Her husband has taken a ministry position in Vandalia, and they will be moving and building a new program of worship for that community. We offer up our prayers and wish them the best in this new adventure.

Kelli Young, who has been a lead teacher at Heart and Hands for five years, will be taking over as director and continuing to teach the 3’s and 4’s co-op classes. Kelli’s family lives in Portage and has two girls, Penelope, 5 and Eloise, 3. Lindsey DeGraaf will continue to assist her co-op classes wonderfully!

Stephanie Sinon will be taking over as assistant director of Hearts and Hands, handling the finances as well as the government-funded program (Kalamazoo County Ready 4’s and Great Start to Reading Readiness). She will also take over as the lead teacher in the five-day-a-week 4’s class. Stephanie lives in Portage and has two girls, Allie, 10 and Lillian 7. She will have a new assistant teacher on board: Courtney Zenz, whose daughter attends the preschool.

Many precautions are in place to keep the environment safe for our young friends. Please keep them in your prayers as they work through the logistics of COVID-s19 and opening up our preschool this coming fall. If necessary, the preschool will have virtual learning.

There are a few spots available in the 4’s Christian Co-op class. The 3’s class and five-day 4’s class are currently full, but spots could open up. The Preschool number is: 639-2343 ext.106, email: heartandhands@vickburgumc.org.
