Lions sponsor International Peace Poster Contest

Lions Clubs International is sponsoring a Peace Poster Contest for students 11-13 in local schools or in organized youth groups. The deadline is Nov. 15. The theme is “We Are All Connected.”

“While overcoming new challenges brought on by an unprecedented global pandemic, we’re celebrating the things that keep us connected to each other, to our communities, all together around the world,” said District Chair Elvie Marfil. “This year, we invite young people to envision, explore and visually express these connections.”

Students are asked to draw, sketch or paint their interpretation of the theme. Posters will be judged on originality, artistic merit and expression of the theme.

They’ll advance through several judging levels: club, distinct, multiple district and international. At the international level, judges from the art, peace, youth, education and media communities select one grand prize winner and 23 merit award winners.

International winners will be notified on or before February 1. One international grand prize winner will receive $5,000 and a trip to a special award ceremony. Each of the 23 merit award winners will receive a cash award of $500 and a certificate of achievement.

More information is available from District Chair Elvie Marfil at (818) 800-1060 or from a zone chairman.
