Help improve Gourdneck State Game Area habitat

The Kalamazoo Conservation District and Michigan United Conservation Club’s On the Ground (OTG) program are looking for volunteers on Saturday, March 26, to improve habitat for wildlife at the Gourdneck State Game Area.

Volunteers will assist with bucking and limbing downed trees and building brush piles by stacking limbs and logs. These brush piles will enhance habitat for wildlife such as woodcock, ruffed grouse, rabbits, and hares.

The volunteer workday will be held from 9 a.m. -2 p.m.

The group is reaching out to community and civic associations, schools and youth groups, families and friends, business employees and any other group that would like to participate. Please register by March 24 on the Kalamazoo Conservation District’s website at www.kalamazooconservation.org.

A free lunch and an OTG volunteer T-shirt or carabiner mug are provided for all registered volunteers. Those with questions may call the Kalamazoo Conservation District office at 269-775-3368 or send an email to kalamazooconservation@gmail.com.
