The Vicksburg Historical Society is the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Allstate Foundation.

The Foundation supports the causes Allstate agency owners, financial specialists and employees care about by providing Helping Hands grants to nonprofits where they volunteer their time to help communities thrive.

The grant was made possible by the volunteer efforts of Society President Charlie Church, owner of the Allstate agency in Vicksburg. “The Historical Society is very grateful to the Allstate Foundation for this grant. It will be put to good use,” Church said.

Church confirmed that the Allstate Foundation Helping Hands Grants must be used by the society for operating support or program funding. “These funds will be used to support our 2022 programs,” he said.

The society “depends on these fundraisers to meet financial needs and to provide programs free of charge to the folks in the greater Vicksburg Community,” said Leah Richard, the society’s museum administrator and curator. The grants “will allow the society to meet these needs.”
