Bread pudding recipe

This month’s recipe comes from Betty McClish. She describes this version of bread pudding as her favorite recipe.

Bread Pudding

6 or 7 slices of day-old bread
1 small box of raisins
3 C milk
3 eggs
1 ½ C sugar
1 T cinnamon
½ t salt
1 t vanilla
1 T butter, melted

Preheat oven to 350.

Break up the bread and put it in a greased 9 x 13 baking dish.

Sprinkle raisins on the top.

Scald the milk.

Mix the eggs, sugar, cinnamon, salt, vanilla and butter and pour over the bread.
Pour the scalded milk on top.

Let sit for 5 minutes before baking.

Bake for 45 minutes or until brown. Serve warm or cold.
