They began with colored paper …
Folded in half with care,
Then pasted on a paper doily
For a lacy bit of flair.
Then shiny, bright red hearts
Were stickered here and there.
Next came the verse proclaiming love
Crayoned on slanted lines,
It’s fun remembering those days
When kids made their Valentines.
