Golden Eagle basketball teams place

New Head Coach Derek Small’s inaugural season came to an end in the district championship game against the Irish of Hackett Catholic Central. It was an overtime thriller with the final score Irish 42, Golden Eagles 38, ending the chance at a repeat State Championship. The team boasted a 16-8 overall record and finished as the SAC Valley Co-Champions with Kalamazoo Christian. It also had an 8-2 record in the conference. Schoolcraft had two players marked as All-Division players: Shane Rykse and Tucker Walther. Eli DeVisser and Malachi Sampley were honorable mentions.

Max Kulczyk and the girls’ basketball team also worked their way into the district final game, facing the Comets from Kalamazoo Christian. The Comets had dominated the Panthers of Delton 62-21, and the Golden Eagles made their way past the Lawton Blue Devils, 35-25. This was a face off for the district championship and a chance to move on. The Comets were able to hold off the Golden Eagles and win by a score of 38-34. Schoolcraft went on to a 14-10 overall and a second-place tie with Kalamazoo Hackett Prep at 7-3 in the conference. Three players were named to the All-Conference team: Caley Kirwin, Allison Bailey and Alicia Garcia.
