DESCRIPTION:During the summer (June 8\, 15\, 22\, 29\, and July 6\, 13\, 20\, 27)\, Family Storytime with Vicksburg District Library will be happening over at Clark Park. In the event of inclement weather\, story time will happen in the library’s lower level with the exception of June 8th and 15th — in case of rain\, the event will just be canceled instead. \nFamily Story Time is for children ages infant to 4 years old and their caregivers. We will listen to stories\, sing songs and rhymes\, and have lots of fun! After story time we will have a simple craft activity. No registration is required.

DESCRIPTION:On July 8\, 1776\, at approximately 6pm EDT\, Colonel John Nixon first read the Declaration of Independence aloud in Philadelphia’s State House Yard. \nOn July 8\, 2026\, at 6pm\, Vicksburg is joining a chorus of voices across all 50 states and nine territories in reading the Declaration of Independence aloud exactly 250 years later. \nMusic and opening remarks will begin at 5:45pm on the front lawn of the Vicksburg Community Schools Administration Building at 301 S. Kalamazoo St. \nThe reading will begin at 6pm. \nLimited seating will be provided for those that need it\, please feel free to bring your own chairs or blankets. \nRain location: Vicksburg Depot Museum\, 300 N. Richardson St. Any changes will be found on our Facebook or website event page. \nBring your voice. Bring your family. Bring your story. Read with us—then keep working—to secure Life\, Liberty\, and the pursuit of Happiness for everyone who calls Michigan\, and the United States of America\, home.
