JA Titan is Vicksburg Community Schools name for its Junior Achievement project that the students have participated in during the 2013/14 school year. They are (standing from left to right), Scott Vreeman, Nick Folkers, Jose Garrido and John Munn. Seated are Scott Wills, business and vocational education teacher, and Karla Piper, community volunteer. They attended the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce meeting in March to learn more about businesses in the community.
The students were challenged to test their skills by running their own business during the seven weeks they were enrolled in the course. They created and sold a Holo-Generator game that had really fun names, such as Assassin Teddy Bears from Space, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Their programs competed with other schools’ Junior Achievement businesses which would have fictional customers where they simulate being a CEO. They get rated on their decisions and strategies. Vreeman won a second place in the competition.
