After weeks of practicing, Schoolcraft enjoyed the opportunity to tackle players not wearing purple and gold. The Eagles traveled to Coloma for their first game of the season, and came away with a 41-7 victory.
Schoolcraft’s offense was in high gear early, with Aaron Lenning and Caleb Anspaugh scoring on the ground. Quarterback Ricky Clark is usually counted on to create offense with his feet, but Friday night the offensive line was in control and Clark was content to let his teammates carry the load.
The Eagles opened up their offense in the first half. Clark found Zach Parsons and Nolan Anspaugh for touchdown passes. Clark’s ability to find open receivers kept Coloma from stacking the box to stop the run.
With the halftime score 35-0, Schoolcraft kept the offense simple in the second half. The defense was stellar the entire game. Coloma couldn’t generate any offense on the ground or in the air.
Ian Anspaugh’s defensive touchdown from a stripped ball was the icing on the cake for the dominating performance by the Eagles.
Schoolcraft opens their home schedule against Watervliet on Friday, Sept 4. Watervliet knocked Schoolcraft out of the playoffs in 2014, after Schoolcraft eliminated them in 2013.
