In keeping with the theme of early American entertainment, the Vicksburg Cultural Arts Center is offering the Brook Farm String Band in connection with the Revolutionary War re-enactment, on Sunday, June 26 from 2-4 p.m. The concert will be presented in the center’s air conditioned building at 200 S. Main Street.
This old time string band plays ballads, waltzes and Celtic traditional music, said Syd Bastos, the operations manager at the arts center. “I’ve heard them play at the London Grill and found myself toe- tapping quite a bit. They own Brook Farm General Market on the north side of Kalamazoo that sells all kinds of vintage furniture and artifacts.”
The owners are Ken Fisher, who plays fiddle and is the band leader, along with Deborah Fisher on the banjo and English concertina. Peter Humphreys plays guitar. The concert is free with snacks and non-alcoholic beverages provided.
