One of Vicksburg’s co-captains for the fall football season has signed to play college football at Adrian College even though he was injured in Vicksburg’s first game of the last season and never saw the field again. His junior season highlight film was enough to convince Adrian coaches that he would be an asset to the team at the next level.

“This just shows that hard work and dedication pays off,” said his high school coach Tom Marchese. “As a linebacker for us he showed good speed and toughness.” Povlock got hurt last fall in the team’s first game against Dowagiac with an ACL injury and meniscus tear that required surgery. “When I got home the team came by our house and brought dinner for all of us. That took a little bit of the pain out of realizing my season was over,” Povlock said.

Povlock plans to major in chemistry or biochemistry as he does well in the sciences, sporting a 3.7 grade point average. During his high school years helped with football kids camp, National Honor Society and was chosen by his classmates to be on the Homecoming court, not once but twice. His brother, Joshua, is a freshman at KVCC. His parents are Brandi and David Povlock.
