We hope you are enjoying some of the joys of summer and staying safe in this heat. Our local gardens are bursting with flowers and vegetables beginning to ripen. South County is a great place to call home!

Walk for the Poor

Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. for the 5th annual Walk for the Poor sponsored by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Vicksburg and St. Edwards Catholic Church in Mendon. The walk will take place at the Vicksburg Recreation Area/Trail parking lot at 12538 S Sprinkle Rd. This event offers the perfect opportunity for fellowship with others, to lighten the load of someone else, and the exhilaration of an unspecified distance walk outdoors. A donation or sponsorship will help us raise money for those in need from this area who are struggling with housing, food, utilities and more. For more information, please call 269-649-1629 ext 3 and leave a message for the St. Vincent de Paul Society. Watch for more information here next month about registration and ways to contribute.

A special thanks from Jim Schippers, VFW Post 5189

Thanks to Chuck Schippers for bringing his Dragster from Kentucky to the car show again this year. Thank you also to Skip Knowles for giving the dragster a “center stage” location. Many youngsters, as well as adults, enjoyed sitting in a real racing dragster and having their picture taken for a donation. Thank you to all who donated, as well as all who helped those getting in and out of the dragster. All the donations have been given to Generous Hands.

Continued appreciation
