Gerald A “Jerry” Houghton, 89, a lifelong resident of Vicksburg, passed away July 16, 2025. Jerry was born in Vicksburg October 6, 1935 to Howard and Sophia (Fritz) Houghton. He served in the U. S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and started working in his father’s machine shop after returning from the service. He retired from HMC in 1999. Jerry was the youngest of 5 siblings, all of whom have preceded him in death. On September 26, 1958, he married Mildred Miller. Jerry is survived by his wife, Millie, and children Susan (Wayne) Ladue of Texas and Matthew Houghton of Vicksburg. He is also survived by grandchildren Jason Josuns (Jackie) of Vicksburg and Bailee Eberstein (Nick Rance) of Fort Wayne, Indiana, as well as many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Jerry and Millie loved adventure. They could be found traveling from coast to coast in their Roadtrek, fishing in Sunset Lake, or wintering in their home in Texas. No matter the adventure, they were always together. A military interment will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery at a later date. While visiting Jerry’s webpage at http://www.amsfuneralhomes.com, please sign the guestbook and share a memory with the family.
