James “Jim” Lloyd Harber, 71, Vicksburg, passed away peacefully at his home on August 9, 2025. Born in Kalamazoo April 15, 1954, Jim was the son of Lloyd and Joyce Harber. He was one of three children and the only boy, growing up alongside sisters Nancy Mays and Norma Manley. From a young age, Jim displayed a deep passion for mechanics and craftsmanship. He loved motorcycles and old cars, and once built a chopper by hand, which remained one of his most prized possessions. Jim graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1972. He owned and operated Harber Siding, in Vicksburg, and remained involved in construction throughout his life. He also contributed to the development of Angels Crossing Golf Club, working with the farm that helped bring the course to life. Jim enjoyed restoring vintage cars, watching classic TV westerns, and cheering on his favorite football teams. Jim is survived by sons Joshua and Matthew Harber; granddaughter Savannah Harber; niece Jennifer Cassel; nephew Richard Mays; along with many friends and neighbors. In accordance with Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held at a later date. James “Jim” Lloyd Harber will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of family and community, and the way he lived life on his own terms. While at www.amsfuneralhomes.com, please take time to sign his guestbook and share your favorite memory with his family. Those who wish may make contributions to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the American Heart Association.
