Bulldog tennis begins new era

by | Oct 2025 | Sports

The Vicksburg varsity boy’s tennis team is currently 4-0-1 in the conference after they defeated Niles 6-2 in their most recent matchup.

Maddox Rosalin won the number one singles 6-1, 6-1. Wes Post took the two singles 6-0, 6-1. Calvin Triemstra had a tougher matchup in three singles. He lost after a 7-6 (5), 4-6, 6-3 matchup. Landon Enderich won the four singles 6-1, 6-0.

In doubles action, the number one doubles team of Mason Rose and Liam Herson won 6-2, 2-6, 6-1. Jasper King and Griffin Schiedel put in a strong showing in number two doubles though they ultimately fell 6-3, 3-6, 6-2. Caleb Robbins and Ryan Smith won the three doubles 6-1, 7-5. Drake Reitenour and Spencer Sertic wrapped things up for the Bulldogs in four doubles. They came away with a 6-0, 6-1 win.

A few days prior to the Niles meet, the Bulldogs defeated Otsego 5-3. The team came in fourth in a quad meeting with Petoskey, Grand Rapids South Christian, and Kalamazoo Christian. The team has won over Plainwell and Three Rivers in head-to-head meets this year. They tied Parma Western and Sturgis. The Bulldogs won a tri-meet over Jackson Northwest and Coldwater near the end of August.

The Bulldogs have just three seniors in Rosalin, Post, and Gio Gangloff. Otherwise, the squad is comprised of underclassmen. It’s a new look and the dawn of a new era for Vicksburg. Nick Foley is taking over as head coach for both the boys and girls teams this year following the retirement of Warner Offord after 22 seasons.

Foley said the squad is young, but he has enjoyed the new role. He has served as Vicksburg’s JV coach for the boys and girls’ teams for the last seven years. Prior to that, he was head coach of the varsity at Kalamazoo Christian for one year.
