For the first time in Vicksburg High School history, the varsity football team won both District and Regional Championships. And while the winning streak didn’t extend to the state championship game, the pride in Vicksburg and within the schools is palpable.
High school principal Adam Brush recognized not only the hard work and growth of the athletes, but also “the strength of the program and the culture Coach Tom Marchese continues to build.”
Athletic Director Mike Roy agreed. “Eighteen years ago, we hired Tom, and everything started to change.” Roy said Marchese arrived with a clear and shared vision for what “Bulldog football could become.”
The high school’s football program’s relationship with the Rocket Football program was strengthened and “supported by many dedicated program leaders over the years.” It was understood that “true success must be built from the ground up and that lasting leadership is essential.” Over the years, Marchese built “exceptional” coaching staff who know how to “motivate, challenge, and bring out the best in kids.”
Roy understands that maintaining this level of success will require ongoing commitment to a “championship culture. That means team members who fully embrace our vision, values, and standards are individuals willing to set aside personal agendas for the team’s greater good.”
Brush recognized the shift in culture. “Our community showed up in full force, students, families, alumni, and staff. The pride and energy demonstrated by this team will leave a lasting mark and set a new standard for what is possible.”
Roy echoed that sentiment. “This season raised the bar for future Bulldog football players. What once just seemed like a dream—making the playoffs—is now an expectation. It’s clear that deep postseason runs will soon be the norm for Vicksburg.”
Yes! The future for Vicksburg football has never seemed brighter!
