Billy Joe Lewis, of Vicksburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at the age of 92. He was born on February 3, 1933, in Bumpus Mills, and was the son of Joe and Mavis Lewis. Billy lived a life that embodied love, dedication, and a deep commitment to his family and faith.

After marrying the love of his life, Annie Pearl Wallace, on April 13, 1951, Billy made the transition to Michigan in search of employment opportunities. He dedicated over three decades of his life to General Motors, where he worked as an engineer, contributing to the legacy of an iconic American industry.

A man of cherished memories, Billy found immense joy in watching the Detroit Tigers, his passion for the sport evident to all who knew him. It was his hope that they would be playing every day in heaven.

Billy’s faith was an integral part of who he was. For over 15 years, he was a devoted member of the Warren Woods Nazarene Church, serving faithfully as an usher. His family described him as loving, caring, and giving, embodying a spirit that was both faithful to the Lord and firmly grounded in family values.

His hobbies revealed the many facets of his character; he had a mechanical aptitude that shone through his love for working on cars. Traveling with Annie was another cherished pursuit of his, and together they enjoyed wintering in Lakeland, Florida, creating countless happy memories.

Billy Joe Lewis was immensely proud of his marriage, having shared 74 wonderful years with Annie. His legacy continues through their two sons, Mark and Rick, along with his grandchildren, who carry forth the values he instilled in them. His favorite Bible verse, John 3:16, reflected the depth of his faith and love for the Lord.

Billy Joe Lewis will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his warm spirit, and the love he shared with everyone around him. His presence will be profoundly missed, leaving behind a legacy of love and faith in all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Billy is survived by his wife of 74 years, Annie; two sons: Mark (Cheryl) Lewis, of CA; Rick (Sue) Lewis, of Fenton; five grandchildren: Jason, (Emily) Lewis, of CA; Jayme (Sara) Lewis, of NV; Matthew Lewis, of Farmington Hills; Michelle (Kevin) Walsh, of Farmington Hills; and Anthony (Melanie) Lewis, of Warren; and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Loretta Kennedy, of TN; brother-in-law: Virgil (Ethel) Wallace, of TN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Joe and Mavis (Wallace) Lewis; 12 siblings and two brother-in-laws.

A funeral service will be held at ChapNaz, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11am. The family will greet friends at the church beginning at 10am until the time of the service. Burial will be at Vicksburg Cemetery.
