Teams from several conferences convened at Schoolcraft High School for the SAC Varsity Competitive Cheer Jamboree. Six teams were involved in Division 3 and eleven including Schoolcraft competed in Division 4. Each team cheered three times in front many supportive fans and eight MHSAA judges who critiqued their every move and cheer.

After the first round and a short break, the teams made their way back onto the floor to continue their competition. In Division 3, Allegan held the lead at 212.8 with Parchment in 2nd with 201.2 points and Buchanan in 3rd with 195.0 points. In Division 4, the early lead was held by Coloma at 207.1 points followed closely by Delton Kellogg at 200.3 and Schoolcraft with 191.0. Teams were judged in several areas: projection and voice loud and clear; the crowd’s response of engagement; sharp motion with clean technique; synchronization of the entire team; and energy and enthusiasm. Jumps were judged on height, body position, timing, and uniformity.

Schoolcraft was really able to shine in Round 2, feeding off the crowd’s energy and a great show of unity. The 2nd round scores were tallied, and the top three teams in each division held onto their spots starting the 3rd and final round. Division 3 was Allegan, Parchment and Buchanan.

The third and final round highlighted more of the team acrobatics with tumbling and pyramids. Flyers were tossed into the air while the bases caught them as they came back down. After all the competitions, the teams gathered on the mat to wait to hear the scores and places.
