Jeffrey R. Wells, 73 of Kalamazoo, passed away November 14, 2025. Jeff was born October 27, 1952 in Grand Rapids, the son of Lawrence and Madonna (Moore) Wells. On October 5, 1979, he married Cheryl Wolthuis, who survives. Jeff loved music and was a classical guitarist. He especially liked sacred music. He faithfully played for church every week on the praise team. Jeff loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids. He hosted a weekly burger night at home with his family and sometimes friends. He loved the beauty of God’s creation and taking long walks in the woods. One of his favorite hymns was “This is My Father’s World.” Nothing was more important to him than his faith. Having lived his early life as an atheist, Jeff was led to the Lord while in his 20’s by his friend, Dave Schwabauer. He was interested in Christian apologetics and enjoyed reading and studying the Christian faith. Besides his wife, Jeff is survived by his daughters, Sarah (Jacob) DeBoer and Rebekah (Andrew) Smith; grandchildren Ryan (Sharon) DeBoer, Matthew DeBoer, David DeBoer, Ethan DeBoer, Levi DeBoer, Caroline DeBoer, Josiah Smith and Zechariah Smith; Timothy Smith, Abigail Smith, Lucan Smith; brother Carl Craig (Fernanda) Blankenburg; sister Kay Fredericks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Florence Wolthuis; many nieces and nephews; and countless friends. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents. Services have been held. Memorial contributions may be made to Westwood Christian Reformed Church, or the Luke Society.
