Ronald Dale Steinacker, of Vicksburg passed away on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the age of 91. He was born on December 6, 1934, in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of Floyd and Sevilla (DeYoung) Steinacker. Ron led a life marked by dedication, strong faith, and a passion for both work and family.

A proud graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, class of 1952, Ron’s early years were distinguished by his involvement in boxing and his commitment to service, having joined the Marine Reserves shortly after graduation. His hardworking nature and independent spirit were evident throughout his life, qualities that earned him respect and admiration in both his personal and professional spheres.

In May of 1954, Ron married Nancy Heystek. He met her while watching a play and made the statement that he would marry that girl someday and that he did. Together they raised four children and created a great life together until she passed in 1988. After which, he reconnected with Sharon Wolthuis who had also lost her spouse. They formed an immediate bond and were married on September 29, 1988.

Ron owned a business that was originally started alongside his brother-in-law, Steinacker Paving. He was also known for lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors, mowing lawns and supporting community efforts such as fundraising when tragedy struck. His generosity and caring nature extended far beyond his business, embodying the quiet strength and reliability that defined him.

His love for family was reflected in cherished traditions and simple pleasures. Whether hosting spirited hog roasts by the pond with his family, sharing fishing trips to Newaygo, or travelling to the beach at Pensacola, Florida, for countless joyful vacations, Ron and Sharon created memories that will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. He was also known for his craftsmanship, spending hours woodworking to build swing sets, tables, and chairs that graced family homes and playgrounds alike.

He loved old country music, finding joy in the rhythms that echoed his life. He took pride in his motor home adventures and had a unique penchant for mowing his yard in “straight” diagonal lines, a small testament to his meticulous approach to life.

Since 1992, Ron was a faithful member of Vicksburg United Methodist Church. His strong will and gentle disposition, intimidating yet a big softy to those closest to him, defined his interactions, inspiring love and respect rather than fear.

Ronald Dale Steinacker’s life was a testament to resilience, faith, and love. His legacy is reflected not only in the lives of his family but in the many hearts he touched through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to those he cared about. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.

Ron is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Sharon (Brigham); four children: Rhonda Rae (Mark) Bradshaw of Schoolcraft; Peggy Ann (Kenneth) McDaniel of Battle Creek; Mark Steven (Mary Kay) Steinacker of Galesburg; and Richard John Steinacker of Portage; two stepchildren Dawn Teune of Alaska, Sheryl (Wayne) Sharp of Greenville,   14  grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
