Mitchell James Green, of Vicksburg passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at the age of 36. He was the son of Steven and Janet (Gordon) Green. He was born on November 15, 1989, in Kalamazoo.

Mitchell was a proud graduate of the Vicksburg Community Schools and graduated from Vicksburg High School with the Class of 2007. Throughout his life, Mitchell was recognized as a helpful, trusting, giving, and selfless individual. His willingness to help others knew no bounds, and those who knew him often described him as someone who would go out of his way to make another’s day brighter.

Most recently, he dedicated the past year serving at the Twelve Baskets Food Pantry and Community Store. At the pantry, Mitchell could be found sorting and packaging food for those in need. His efforts helped make a difference to many families throughout the community.

Mitchell found joy in life’s simple pleasures. His love of music, particularly The Doors. A lifelong lover of literature, Mitchell was an avid reader, especially drawn to mystery novels and books with historical significance. He often recommended favorite stories to friends, sharing the thrill of a gripping plot or a fascinating piece of history.

Sports were a source of joy for Mitchell. He was an enthusiastic fan of Detroit’s professional teams: the Red Wings, Tigers, and Lions. Mitchell’s pride in his roots also shone brightly through his devotion to the University of Michigan, proudly wearing the iconic maize and blue and cheering for the Wolverines with unwavering spirit.

Though he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched, Mitchell James Green’s compassion, warmth, and enduring kindness will not be forgotten. His legacy of generosity and dedication to helping others continues to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.

He is preceded in death by his mother: Janet Green; and grandparents: Raymond and Minnie Gordon, and Frederick and Mary Green. He is survived by his father Steve Green and brother: Mark Green; both of Vicksburg.

The family will Celebrate Mitchell’s life on Friday, August 28th from 4pm to 7pm at the funeral home.
