The Vicksburg Fine Arts Boosters (VFAB) is once again inviting the community to help support student creativity through its popular “Take A Seat for the Arts” campaign by donating wooden chairs and stools.
The boosters seek donations of wooden stools and chairs of all sizes – from children’s stepstools to full-size chairs. Each donated piece will become a unique work of art as students from every grade level in Vicksburg Community Schools transform them under the guidance of their art teachers.
Past campaigns have produced an impressive collection of one-of-a-kind functional art pieces, showcasing the talent and imagination of VCS students. These beautifully decorated chairs and stools have become a highlight of the Celebration of the Arts.
The completed pieces will be featured in an online auction next spring as part of the 2027 VCS Celebration of the Arts. Proceeds from the auction directly support Vicksburg Community Schools visual arts programs, helping provide students with enriching artistic opportunities.
Community members interested in donating a wooden chair or stool can contact VFAB by emailing vicksburgfab@gmail.com. A VFAB volunteer will gladly arrange to pick up donated items.
VFAB’s vision is to ensure everyone in the Vicksburg community has the opportunity to experience and appreciate the fine arts – including videography, photography, visual arts, theater, vocal music, and general music – throughout the Vicksburg Community Schools district. The organization fulfills its mission by supporting and encouraging participation in fine arts programs and initiatives across the district.
Every donated chair or stool becomes more than just a piece of furniture. It becomes a canvas for student creativity and an investment in the future of arts education in Vicksburg.
