The Schoolcraft Friends of the Library sponsored a “Garden Party” on the Schoolcraft Community Library’s parking lot to raise funds to support the construction of the Reading Garden in August. They featured an assortment of activities including entertainment by X-treme Dance, and the High School Band. The Children’s Corner hosted a water balloon toss, tootsie roll pop throw and a pinata. The audience bought tickets to dance with a “celebrity” like Spiderman, Prince Charming, Wonder Woman, Glinda the Good Witch, $1.00 each.

Opportunities to purchase a plant for the Reading Garden were available and almost sold out. Several lucky people took home one of the prizes from the raffle drawing–Garden Party Bag, watercolor painting by local artist Vicki Bell, handmade basket by Deb Dehart, or children’s summer activity bag. The evening ended with a circus performance in the street with local performer Desiree Scobey.

“It was an evening of fun and food while supporting the Library and its endeavor to bring another beautiful space to our community for all to enjoy,” according to Bobbi Truesdell, library director. Upcoming Events
